2006 US Forest Service Regional Honor - Caring for the Land Stewardship Award
Rocky Mountain Regional Forester, Rick Cables, awarded the UP Project the 2006 Forest Service Regional Honor Award - Caring for the Land Stewardship on December 14, 2006 in Denver, CO. The UP Project was honored for their work to develop native plant materials to benefit wildland fire management, reduce wildland fire risks, and restore health to forests and rangelands in the Upper Colorado Plateau region.

CO Chapter of Wildlife Society Outstanding Achievement Award
The UP Project received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Colorado Chapter of the Wildlife Society at their annual meeting. The presentation took place during the Society’s Awards Banquet in Colorado Springs in January, 2005. Congratulations to the UP team for its collective, outstanding achievements.

National Fire Plan Award
The U.S. Departments of Agriculture and the Interior and the National Association of State Foresters have recognized the Uncompahgre Plateau Project in its third-annual National Fire Plan awards program, early this year. The National Fire Plan, under the President’s Healthy Forests Initiative, is a cooperative, long-term effort of the USDA Forest Service, DOI, the National Association of State Foresters and the Western Governors’ Association for the federal government and state partners to manage impacts of wildland fire to our nation's communities. The UP Project won an award for its “Excellence in Collaboration” for outstanding teamwork involving public and private partners, and demonstrating innovation and commitment to the key points of the National Fire Plan.
Winner of the Secretary of the Interior's Four C's Award
The UP Project received the Secretary of the Interior’s Four C’s Award: Consultation, Cooperation, and Communication, all in the service of Conservation. BLM Director, Kathleen Clarke, presented the partners with the distinguished Director’s Four C’s Award in an October 2004 ceremony held in Montrose, CO.
