Growth Characteristics: Needle and Thread is a cool-season, perennial bunchgrass that can grow to 3 feet.  The characteristic sharp, hygroscopic seeds and long awns give this plant its common name. 

Range: Needle and Thread can be found across much of western North America at elevations up to around 8,000 ft.
