Step 10: Seed Increaser Fields

Seed Increaser Fields are established for seed production.   Fields are established using greenhouse grown stock and field transplanted or by direct seeding.   Species capable of seed production with minimal difficulties are directly entered into Foundation or Seed Increaser Fields for seed increase. These fields range from one-tenth to 60 acres. Once 100 to 300 lbs of seed is achieved, the seed can be furnished to the Crop Improvement Associations for distribution to commercial and private growers to establish commercial seed increase fields. These fields are also used to produce seed for use in our Studies.
