Welcome to the Uncomphagre Plateau Native Plant Program portion of our website. This program began as an effort to propagate native species for the Uncompahgre Plateau. From the beginning, however, it was realized that the efforts of the local program could and should benefit the entire upper Colorado Plateau Region. This expansion would increase efficiency, reduce costs, prevent any duplication of efforts, and improve the likelihood of achieving our goals. Therefore, we were privileged in 2004-05 to expand our partnerships to include USFS Region 4, the BLM Utah State Office, and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources - creating a stand-alone program in which the UP Project serves as one of many partners.

Upper Colorado Plateau Native Plant Materials Assessment

We are currently conducting a Demand Survey to assess the current and potential demand for native plant materials for the upper Colorado Plateau. The findings from this survey will be used to:

1. Modify the direction of the current UP Native Plant Program. (As an example, we may modify which species we focus our efforts and resources on.)
2. Inform private growers and seed companies of the demand for native seed, encouraging this new industry.
3. Update and inform state, regional and national land management agencies as to the current demand for native seed in the upper Colorado Plateau.

The survey has 37 questions and should take about 20 - 30 minutes to complete.

If you are a current user of native seed and are interested in participating in our survey, please follow the link below.
