The UP Project sponsored a conference on the Ecology and Management of Pinyon and Sagebrush Communities in May, 2005 in Montrose, CO. Over 270 individuals registered and attended the conference including professors from many of the prominent universities in the western states, agency personnel from several states, and interested local community members. Sessions included: Ecology and Management of Pinyon-Juniper Communities; Sagebrush Ecology and Management; Weed Ecology; Collaborative Management Programs: Progress in Land Management Issues Through Cooperation; Fuels, Fire Ecology and Management of Pinyon-Juniper Communities; WIldlife Habitat Management and Restoration; and a Field Tour to Discuss "On The Ground" Ecology and Management Conditions, Issues and Tools.
