What is the UP Project?

Consultation

The UP assists in coordinating and funding restoration and rehabilitation activities across jurisdictional boundaries in western Colorado.  The UP Partners (Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife, Public Lands Partnership, Western Area Power Administration and Tri-State Generation) rely on the UP to organize and facilitate projects –allowing for the most efficient use of everyone’s time and resources.

Cooperation

The UP is a landscape collaborative that pulls federal and state agencies, interest groups and private citizens together with the shared goal of improving ecosystem health. Despite having diverse backgrounds and interests, the UP Partners have come together to coordinate their efforts, becoming a model for effective community resource management.

Communication

The UP serves as a liaison for the UP Partners and the community. Scientists and land users, agency personnel and environmentalists from the local, regional and national levels, are communicating, listening, and moving beyond conflict into effective collaboration and decision-making.  The UP is also committed to public education through public meetings, tours, demonstration sites, publications and our website.

Conservation

The UP, through its various programs, always works towards the clear, collective goal of long-term ecosystem enhancement.   The UP Partners will remain proactive and forward focused until this goal is realized.
